Endoscopy
(908) 668-2630
Endoscopy is the term used for any procedure involving the use of an endoscope, an instrument that enables a physician to look into a body cavity, photograph the interior, and perform a variety of procedures if necessary. In the Endoscopy Unit at Muhlenberg, physicians and nurses with specialty qualifications in gastrointestinal disease use endoscopy to diagnose and treat maladies of the esophagus, stomach and intestines. Pulmonary and cardiac endoscopic procedures are also performed in this unit. The unit provides patients with ‘one stop' service for admission, treatment, recovery and discharge, and employs such state-of-the-art procedures and technologies as bronchoscopy, transesophageal echocardiogram and biofeedback therapy.
