A model for similar programs throughout the United States, the Express Admission Program enables patients to be admitted to the medical center, have blood tests, X-rays and other necessary procedures and be escorted to their rooms within two hours. The Express Admission Annex, located in the Emergency Department, allows for quick admission of emergency patients. Patients coming to Muhlenberg for a variety of elective and urgent medical/surgical services are eligible for the program.
Pre-admission testing, conducted before patients are admitted to the hospital, also saves time and facilitates the admission process. Outpatients needing EKGs and laboratory testing also use Pre-Hospital Services.
